Would-be entrepreneurs from disadvantaged areas of England will next week be on their way to Babson College, Wellesley, Massachusetts for a two-week intensive course to sharpen up their business skills.

The students are all members of the New Entrepreneur Scholarships programme, a programme funded by the UK government’s Learning and Skills Council, which aims to encourage people to develop their entrepreneurial talents. The 20 NES students who were selected for the New Entrepreneur Transatlantic Scholarships will network with US entrepreneurs while at Babson and will also experience cutting-edge entrepreneurial education.

NES is managed by the National Federation of Enterprise Agencies, the Prince’s Trust and the Association of Business Schools.

Jonathan Slack, chief executive of ABS, says that the programme will undoubtedly change lives.

“The programme has and will continue to ensure that the scholars involved have the right business and management tools to get started, survive and stay competitive,” he says.
